Qovurma kifta (Fried meat balls)
You can cook this dish as a main meal or as an appetizer. If you are cooking as a main meal you should prepare side dish also. I usually fry potatoes and punch them in stick with some olive, and I also prepare some fresh salad.
Ingredients:
500 gr meat(lamb or beef)minced
1 onion finely chopped
1 egg
100 gr rice washed
2 tbsp of butter or olive oil
5 big tomatoes peeled and pureed
5 clove of chopped garlic
Salt, pepper, red chili powder as taste
300 gr of vegetable or olive oil
Mix finely meat, onion, rice, salt and spices, add melted butter. Form kiftas as a small balls. Now heat the oil, and put Kiftas in it and fry until golden. Don't put all of you kifta in pot, while frying there must be enough place for them. I usually fry about 10 kiftas at once. After you finished frying all of your kiftas, carefully pour out all the oil but 100 gr. Now put all of your kiftas in pot, cover them with pureed tomato and put chopped garlic in it, add 100 gr of water, reduce the heat and cover the lid. Cook it until rice is ready. Serve and enjoy it!
Sometimes after frying kiftas, I put them in another dish , cover with tomatoes and garlic, cover the lid and put them in the oven.
You can also cover them with cheese at the end and let it stay for 4-5 min until cheese melts.Yum:)
Yoqimli ishtaha!!!
